List stacking overlays several motivation lists (absentee, tax delinquent, pre-foreclosure, code violations) and ranks records by how many they appear on. A property hitting multiple distress signals at once is far likelier to have a motivated seller.
It trades volume for precision: the same outreach budget spent on a smaller, multi-signal universe converts better than a broad, cold list. The catch is data discipline — clean deduping and address matching make the overlap trustworthy.
