Win-Back Campaign

A targeted effort to recover customers who lapsed or churned — usually with a tailored offer acknowledging they left.

A win-back campaign focuses specifically on customers who used to buy and then stopped — a homeowner who switched providers, a subscriber who canceled. It differs from broad reactivation by aiming at known lapsed customers with messaging that addresses why they left and what has changed, often paired with an incentive to return.

Win-backs work because reacquiring a former customer is usually cheaper than winning a brand-new one, and lapsed customers convert better than cold prospects. The discipline is targeting and timing: segmenting by reason and recency of churn, then making a relevant offer rather than blasting every former customer the same generic discount.
